Chairman Department of Orthopedics - Spinal Surgery Klinikum Magdeburg

The Klinikum Magdeburg gGmbH is city hospital for Magdeburg with almost all specialties available in 18 separate departments.  It is an academic teaching hospital for the university of Magdeburg. It is situated close to the center.

The department of orthopedics II - Spinal Surgery performs 750 surgeries per year, of which approximately 450 are instrumented spinal procedures. The whole range of spinal surgery (except for intradural pathology) is offered. A focus is on minimally invasive techniques and  non-fusion technologies. As being a referal center for the region we take care on a wide range of pathologies including infections and tumours. Adult spinal deformity has become a major part of our work. However, the whole spectrum from microdiscectomies to 360 degree fusion procedures is performed on a daily basis.

What can a fellow expect?

Full time spine surgery, daily rounds and spinal outpatient clinics. You get internet and journal access in the hospital. As we are closely related with the radiological and neurosurgical department you can also join these departments for intradural pathology cases or interventional neuroradiological procedures.

In the OR Fellows will be able to observe, but also to scrub.

At the moment there are no guest rooms inside the hospital, but arrangements  with guest roomy very close to the hospital can be made.
